Apparently My Accounting Prof Likes Curling

In a review session today, she made reference to "bonspiels" as an example of a non-recurring cost.  Now, I'm a bigger curling fan than anyone who lives in a big city should be, and I only heard of this word a couple of weeks ago.  Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge, the word has not been uttered in any curling broadcast on a major Canadian network in the last ~15 years, or, for that matter, used anywhere but on the internet.

She did confuse the big women's tournament with the Tournament Of Roses, but still, bonspiel!

I guess she was thinking of something like this:

  1. She was using the Scotties and Brier as examples, so they're non-recurring for each specific location.
