Webcomic Idea

Title: Ohm Y God
Premise: A humorous look at the tensions between the scientific and religious crowds, that will make puns of Spanish words (in English) whenever possible.
Main characters: Georg Simon Ohm and some representation of god, of course

I wish I could draw well enough to make this a reality.  I honestly think it would be excellent.

Adventures In Search Engine Optimization

108-54? ...Is Probably A Much Less Common Headline

  • I think the Twins are racists in the first inning, and then catch themselves after that
    • I suppose the fact that not all 3 were swinging un-racists it
  • Nick Blackburn has a strange windup
  • GIDP counter: 2
  • Okay, I take back my positive stance on EE playing 3B
    • Though he does seem to have a magical ability to cause throwing errors by others (now x2)
    • Oh bloody hell! (also x2)

I Know This Is A Little Late...

But people can attest to my mentioning this the instant I saw it:

Why the hell is Rebecca Black even thinking about getting into a car being driven by a bunch of 13-year olds?

Gerse: ...They sell some weird shit on here, apparently

162-0? ...Is A Lazy, Overused Headline

But "Baseball Musings" was already taken.

A New Challenger Approaches

While both the BBM quips so far have consisted of me saying something, and then quickly realizing there's a punchline to be had (obviously I don't say the initial line with the intent of saying the subsequent one - that would be poor form), often times the lead-in is provided by someone else.  Other times, those people will actually be the ones bringing the funny, and will receive credit as such.

With that in mind, these are the three people who will feature most prominently in future posts:
Yoshi
Happybday
Beermote

Not coincidentally, they also happen to be the three people who read this blog the most.  Poor souls.

Yoshi: This play culminated in a "slapper" down the third base line.

Apparently My Accounting Prof Likes Curling

In a review session today, she made reference to "bonspiels" as an example of a non-recurring cost.  Now, I'm a bigger curling fan than anyone who lives in a big city should be, and I only heard of this word a couple of weeks ago.  Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge, the word has not been uttered in any curling broadcast on a major Canadian network in the last ~15 years, or, for that matter, used anywhere but on the internet.

She did confuse the big women's tournament with the Tournament Of Roses, but still, bonspiel!

BBM Quick Quip

Gerse: People who smoke under building overhangs when it's not raining deserve to be tarred and feathered
Gerse: Well, I suppose they've already got the tarring part covered

Reductio Ad Deficio

This turned out much worse than I expected when I initially came up with the idea.  In hindsight, it probably should've just been a quip, since there isn't much substance beyond the title and concept.
Regardless, since I put in the time, here's a likely-never-to-be-finished photoshop:

BBM Quick Quip

Gerse: First legit post up
Gerse: What is "something not said about Chris Bosh until his fourth season in the league?"

O HAI

Lookie here, it's one of 'em newfangled blogamajigs.

On the off chance that this blog is ever read by more than the two people who currently know it exists, here's a brief introduction for posterity's sake:
I'm The Gerse.  I like to get needlessly annoyed or enamoured with generally mundane occurrences.  Thankfully (for me and, I don't know, intellectual masochists?) the world is full of stupid, illogical or just plain silly people and things, so I've got more than enough fodder at my disposal.  I enjoy using polysyllabic words and speaking in a slightly more formal and structured manner than one might find in general discourse.  I also like littering my speech and writing with colloquialisms and occasionally saying to hell with grammatical norms and sentence structure.  It creates a nice little balance.
Also, I'm using a font called Trebuchet.  I think that's pretty sweet.
